Day 2 - Nairobi - Aberdares
Today you start very early. You drive past fertile fields of the central highlands and see coffee and pineapple plantations as well as colourful villages. Our drive to Aberdare Country Club offers a magnificent view of Mount Kenya. Lunch will be served at the club, then transfer to the Ark, located right in the heart of Aberdare National Park near a waterhole. Here you can see elephants, rhinos, giant boar, antelope, leopard, buffalo and occasionally the rare and hard to find bongo. Lush green trees provide the ideal setting for baboons and colourful birds. At night you can enjoy an illuminated game viewing from the gallery while the animals come to drink. Dinner and overnight in The Ark.
Day 3 - Aberdare - Sweetwater's
After breakfast you leave the famous tree hotel The Ark and drive early in the morning to the Sweetwater Game Reserve, a popular destination for those interested in nature conservation in Kenya. This reserve is a private concession home to the only chimpanzees in Kenya and is rich in wildlife such as rhinos, buffalos, hippos, giraffes, zebras, lions, cheetahs and many other predators. Activities at the luxury tented camp include game drives, bird watching, boat trips and horse riding. All meals and overnight at Sweetwater Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 4 - Mount Kenya Safari Club
Leave Sweetwaters and continue past African farmland where corn is grown for example to this famous luxury resort. Please note that you must dress "appropriately" for dinner. Men in jackets and ties and ladies long evening dresses. Many activities are available, including trout fishing, horse riding, tennis, swimming and bird watching. All meals at the lodge.
Day 5 - Mount Kenya - Samburu
After breakfast, head north and continue to the plateau, which finally leads into the hot and dusty bush landscape of Samburu. Note the bright tribal dress of the Samburu people. On arrival at Samburu Lodge we will have lunch and relax at or in the pool. Afternoon game drives, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. There are many different species of wildlife, including the reticulated giraffe, the shy long-necked antelope Gerenuk, Grevy's Zebra and the blue-bined Somali Ostrich.
Day 6 - Samburu
An entire day is spent in this panoramic national park - a scenario of semi-arid land, treeless plains and rugged landscapes. We look for the characteristic species of this region north of the equator, including the Uaso Nyiro Crocodile and the Beisa Oryx. All our meals and overnight at Samburu Lodge.
Day 7 Samburu - Lake Nakuru
After breakfast we head west through the spectacular scenery to Nyahururu Falls (formerly Thompson Falls) and then south to Lake Naukuru National Park, where millions of flamingos live and various animal species such as rhinos, leopards, giraffes, zebras, antelopes... After lunch at Lion Hill Lodge, game drives will take place in the afternoon to observe the game found at this Rift Valley Lake. Dinner and overnight at Lion Hill Lodge.
Day 8 - Lake Nakuru- Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast we leave this resort by the lake and drive through Maasai Land, where there are a number of extinct volcanoes. Our drive takes us across the western rift valley of the Great Rift Valley (formed when tectonic forces pushed up part of the earth's crust and left one of the longest and most spectacular canyons in the world from the Middle East to Mozambique) into the Massai Mara Triangle. We arrive at the Mara Simba Lodge for a late lunch. After lunch we will search for the numerous wildlife found in this famous game reserve: Elephants, buffalos, gnus, topi, leopards, cheetahs, lions, rhinos, ostriches, impalas, gazelles and many more. Dinner and overnight at Mara Simba Lodge.
Day 9 - Massai Mara
Today you will travel for a whole day through the savannah of the Mara, which forms the northern corridor of the Serengeti Plain of Tanzania. Every year in July or August, the great wildebeest migration is observed here. One of the most fascinating sights in the animal kingdom, because millions of these antelopes migrate from Tanzania to the Mara in search of water and greener plants. Behind them follow the predators - lions, jackals and hyenas - who hunt the weak, the old and the sick and keep the strong alive for another season. After the beautiful sight of a golden sunset at the campsite, we have dinner and after a nice day we retire to the Mara Simba Lodge.
Day 10 - Masai Mara- Nairobi
You start with an early game drive before breakfast to find animals that are otherwise not seen during the day. Back to Sarova Mara Simba Lodge for breakfast, then we leave the Mara and drive towards Nairobi. In the early afternoon we reach the city. The evening is free for dinner and overnight at the Serena Hotel.
